ISR's -- 1992 Season
There are too many cases of unknown dates in the historical records that I used to re-create this data set for me to be able to do weekly updates as I have in later years, so these are end-of-year ratings only.
The score set behind this is incomplete, but it's close enough to justify publication. Teams with incomplete game records are listed at the bottom; in most cases, it's possible to find their D1 records by using "reflected light"; most missing D1 games can be identified through the missing team's opponents. Since most of these are unlikely to have played each other, it's likely that the great bulk of the missing games are against non-D1 competition and wouldn't have an impact on the ratings.
In keeping with my comments on 1993, we see a real confirmation that the game was different then. Overall, it was weaker, in keeping with Stephen Jay Gould's work on how dominant teams demonstrate weakness in the field at large, but that led to a world where a dozen teams stood head and shoulders against most others.
Which points out how delightful that Pepperdine championship team was. The feeling at the time among the small press and the fan base was that they had come out of nowhere and caught a hot streak to get through the postseason, but as you see here, this was a legitimate team, nearly the best the country had to offer that year.
A couple of other points of interest were also out in the LA area. The Cal State Northridge program went through a period of being heavily financially challenged during the 90's, but this was a really solid year for them; they were badly underseeded (remember that this is early days for even the bad information that the committee got from the RPI, so reputation counted for more than it probably should have; Pepperdine was also a #3 this year, which was part of the source of confusion at the time) as a #3 and didn't make it out of the regional.
Also of interest in light of current realities is Chapman at #39. Chapman has been a D3 power for so long (including a couple of national championships) that we tend to pigeonhole them there, but they had a string of successful seasons in D1 in the late '60's and early '70's. This was the peak of their early '90's attempt to rejoin D1 (I didn't include them in the 1993 or 1994 reports because they basically played hybrid schedules those years). Given that one of the things that would help out the West Coast a good bit on RPI bias would be adding a dozen or two more D1 teams out there, they should be kept in mind as a candidate (of course, this is being written in the fall of 2020, when all budgets are shot, so this is definitely long-term thinking).

On the St. Francis NCAA report, they list their first three games as a series against "FDU", with FDU winning two of three. Those games don't appear on the NCAA report for Fairleigh Dickinson or for the D3 FDU-Florham campus. For now, I'm treating them as games against a non-D1 opponent for St. Francis.
On both the Pittsburgh NCAA report and in their media guide, they list a 13-0 win over New Hampshire. The New Hampshire NCAA report doesn't list that game at all, and the W-L record on that report checks out without it. I'm treating it as a non-D1 game against an unknown opponent for Pitt.
I don't have a full set of games for Bethune-Cookman. Only eighteen of their games show up on someone else's records, so I'm guessing that they played a mostly D2 schedule this year. However, they did play at least eighteen games against D1 opposition, including the MEAC tournament (there apparently was no MEAC regular season that year), so I'm including them in the D1 list.
