Team Stats
I spent my baseball time this week adding some new functionality to the site, so in here you're going to get a data dump that's an offshoot of that. I'll get back to writing more next week. By popular request, I've added team stats to The Filing Cabinet and to the leaderboards. Here are the links to the various pages, all of which mimic fairly closely their individual counterparts:
The Team Hitting Stats Database
The Team Pitching Stats Database
The Team Stats Leaderboard
Derived from that, then, and offered without comment, are the top 10 in all the categories that interested me for the 2002-2006 seasons cumulatively:

Lots of these are still up for grabs, especially since FSU is a bit off this year offensively and has already passed the stats-boosting portion of their schedule, so it'll be worth keeping an eye on. There are lots of style issues you can read into these if you want; Texas bunts a lot more than anyone else, nobody in the SWAC can pitch and everyone runs a lot, and Rice has really good pitching (duh).
Tournament Watch
This means absolutely nothing, ignore it.
This is one generic layman's predictions for who gets in the tournament. I'm not going to bother picking a team from the one-bid conferences, since the conference tournament will just be a crapshoot, but if I only list one team from a conference, they'll get an at large bid if they don't get the automatic bid.

Pitch Count Watch
Rather than keep returning to the subject of pitch counts and pitcher usage in general too often for my main theme, I'm just going to run a standard feature down here where I point out potential problems; feel free to stop reading above this if the subject doesn't interest you. This will just be a quick listing of questionable starts that have caught my eye -- the general threshold for listing is 120 actual pitches or 130 estimated, although short rest will also get a pitcher listed if I catch it. Don't blame me; I'm just the messenger.

The Pellegrine outing is an actual count replacing last week's estimate. Last week, I listed an estimate for Jon Anderson of Duke at 140 pitches over 9 innings. He actually only pitched 6.1 innings in that game.
(*) Pitch count is estimated. As always, I welcome actual pitch count corrections.
